The School Day

​

8.40 - The school gates open and teachers will be on duty in the playgrounds. Year 3 children should be dropped off in the bottom playground which is adjacent to reception and the main driveway gates.  Parents can wait with them until it is time to line up. 

08:50 Teachers will take children to their class ready for registration. 

09:30 If your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment, please phone the school office before 09:30. 

10.30am Morning break

12pm Lunchtime

1pm Afternoon registration

15:20 Home time- Year 3 children will be taken to the bottom playground ready for collection.  Teachers will be available then if you have any questions or concerns. 

Attendance/ Punctuality information

All children are expected to attend regularly and to be in school on time, each day. If for any reason this is not possible, please ensure you have contacted the school office before 9.30am.

Uniform 

​

Our school uniform is compulsory. All children should come to school wearing: 

• Sweatshirt/cardigan with our school logo 

• White polo T-shirt 

• Black / dark grey trousers (not tracksuit bottoms), shorts or skirts 

• Black sensible shoes (closed toes, no heels) 

• Royal blue gingham summer dresses 

PE Kit

Your child should bring their PE kit to school for the week each Monday (you will be notified about the days in September). 

• house t-shirt (to be confirmed before the summer holiday) 

• black shorts or tracksuit bottoms 

• trainers / plimsolls 

All our uniform can be purchased from Excel Embroidery in Ilfracombe (next to Lidl).

Communication/ Payments 

We work hard to ensure we give parents as much information as possible. To help us keep you up to date, we use the School Gateway app. We are a cashless school so this app allows you to pay for trips and school dinners and also enables the school to send updates via message alerts. If you already have a child in the school, their sibling will automatically be added once they are admitted in September. If you a new parent to the school, more information will follow in September about the app and how it can be set up once the children are admitted.

Free School Meals

School dinners will need to be paid for unless you have registered for free school meals. If you think your child is entitled to free school meals please register via  FREE SCHOOL MEALS | IJS (ilfracombe-jun.devon.sch.uk)

What to bring? 

​

Your child will be provided with everything they need on the first day. They will receive a home-learning pack with a Reading Journal. For use in the classroom, they will be provided with their own pencil case including all of the resources/ equipment required.
