In year 6 this week, each of our classes have visited Braunton Burrows as part of our World War 2 topic. The children were given a guided tour of some of the key spots which were used by the Allied forces in preparation for D-Day landings in Normandy, France. The children visited the landing craft mock ups and re-enacted the approaches of leaving the crafts as carried out by the soldiers.
It was great for the children to be given the opportunity to hear about and explore some local history and the impact North Devon had on supporting the war effort.
