Year 5 Visit Hele Beach

Year 5 have been to visit Hele Beach to learn about the coast and ocean processes. We learnt lots of technical vocabulary like Erosion, Corrosion and Hydraulic action! We also learnt all about the landforms that surround the beach and what the impact of them are.

We learnt about: Headlands, the furthest, biggest part of the rocks; bays, the cove of a beach that has been eroded out by the sea tides; Arches, where the ocean erodes a cave all the way through and Stacks, what is left once the roof of an arch erodes away.

It was a very positive experience that allowed us to put all of our classroom knowledge into the wider world and our local area.
