Our Year 5 children had a fantastic visit to Ilfracombe Museum today, where they delved into the town’s past and explored how the railway came to be in their town!
Today we looked at pictures taken in the town before the railway, where the children recognised a few landmarks along the way, as well as seeing the original plans for the railway and then exploring first hand accounts of people who lived and breathed Ilfracombe’s Railway.
We are so excited that the children are getting the opportunity to be historians and investigate the history of where they live, using real artefacts from the time and finding out about the treasures of its past.
