Vikings for the Day in Year 5

Year 5 had a great time this week on our special Viking day. The focus of the day was to help us think further about our overarching question 'Would you rather be a Viking raider or a Viking trader?'

Each class moved around the Year 5 classrooms taking part in different activities. Mr Alcock led a trading activity where we had to trade different materials in order to be able to make a catapult. We made Viking shields with Mrs Moore and talked about what it would have been like to have been a Viking raider. Mrs Spelman taught us how to make Viking soda bread and we talked about how trading would have worked and the sort of items the Vikings might have traded. Miss Campbell made a very convincing Viking leader and took us on a mission to invade classrooms around the school.

Now we just have to decide... Viking raider or Viking trader? What would you choose?
