Thank you - from the Governing Body.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re almost at the end of another year, and what a year it has been. One never to be forgotten! The last 10 months have been so strange that it’s almost hard to recall the time before lockdown and what ‘normal’ school life was like.

The speed with which things had to change, the uncertainty it created and the fear and anxiety that we were all feeling was almost overwhelming, but the show kept going! The dedication and resilience shown by all the staff in our school as they put new systems in place and supported learning both in school and at home has been incredible. Likewise, the efforts from you and your children in adapting to the new normal have been amazing.

The governors have met several times online and Mr Le Bredonchel has updated us regularly on all the developments. We would normally visit the school regularly throughout the year, and we have missed not being able to go into school to see the children and what is happening. Governors have spoken to staff and received regular feedback from them on how the school is running during these difficult times.

On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to say a huge thank you to all staff and in particular Mr Le Bredonchel and Mrs Foster. The work that has gone into keeping the school running during these times have been extremely intense, but as always, the amazing school community we have are getting us through it. This really has been a year to remember, and we hope that all staff enjoy a relaxing and refreshing holiday.

A massive thank you to you and your families for all the emails, talks at the gates and phone calls of support. This means a lot in these times. We recognise how difficult this time has been for everyone, and we sincerely hope that the new academic year will look brighter and feel very much more like normal.

It is always good to hear the parent views of what is happening in school and how much the children enjoy coming to school and how safe they feel. Please email mporter@ilfracombe-jun.devon.sch.uk the governors would very much like to hear from you.

From the Governors at Ilfracombe Church of England Junior school we wish you all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.

God Bless

Best wishes,

Michael Porter
