Taiko Drumming at our School

We are now in our second year of embedding Taiko drumming as part of our whole school practice.

Each class takes part in Taiko drumming workshops, where we learn to play these big Japanese drums, and apply the four Taiko principles to our everyday learning in school.

Attitude is about always doing our best and being resilient even when we find things hard.

Kata is about having positive body language and developing our self-confidence.

Technique is making sure we do simple things really well, showing we are listening with our ears and our eyes.

Ki is about being enthusiastic in our lessons, and working with lots of energy and enjoyment.

We have a section in our individual Pupil Activity Passports where we record our thoughts about Taiko drumming.

4TS can be seen here focused on each small step, to do the very best they can in their Taiko drumming.
