In Science this term, we have started our topic ‘Rocks, Soils and Fossils.’ We have begun by discussing our big question: How do you think the building materials of modern houses today compare to those in Stone Age Britain?
Comparing materials used in Stone Age Britain to those used today generated a lot of questions about what materials are made of! We have also observed and recorded the properties of rocks and discussed how we could classify them.
Throughout the topic, we are excited to continue to learn about:
· how to plan a rock enquiry that includes comparative and fair tests;
· how rocks, soils and fossils are formed;
· how to gather and record data.
Below are some examples of work that children completed at the beginning of our topic to elicit different ideas. As you can see, we have some budding scientists in Year 3!
