The government has updated its guidance on the coronavirus. The stay at home guidance now extends to pupils or staff who have a member of their immediate family showing symptoms of coronavirus (persistent cough or fever). In this situation, people are expected to now self isolate for 14 days from the date of the first member of family showing symptoms even if they themselves do not show any symptoms. These absences from school will be authorised. Please see the following link for detailed information:
Stay at home guidance:
People at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus should take stringent social distancing measures, including avoiding large groups and this advice is likely to be in place for some weeks.
At risk groups:
I would certainly support any parents' request should they believe their child to be in an at risk group and therefore want their child to be absent from school. The current government advice is for all other pupils to remain in school.
As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please call us so that we can talk it through with you. It is a constantly changing situation and I am more than happy to discuss things with anyone based on individual circumstances.
