As new works start to build new houses in Ilfracombe, archaeologists have been unearthing some hidden treasures that tell tales of the people who lived in Ilfracombe and how they were connected to Europe and northern Africa.
Year 3 pupils visited the dig site and spoke to archaeologists about their exciting finds: pottery from Germany, glass beads from Venice, coins from Portugal, and even flint from prehistoric Britain.
The children also to visit the remains of a farmhouse that had been abandoned over 400 years ago.
