As we near the end of our History topic we have begun bringing together our knowledge to answer our big question ‘Which ruler of ‘these islands’ has the greatest legacy in today’s United Kingdom?’
To help us think about what we know and the knowledge we have gained, we had a silent debate. As a class, we were presented with different statements. We thought about our answers and then wrote down I thoughts, backing them up with facts, for others to read, consider and agree or argue. We did all of this silently to help others think clearly; to help us learn to build arguments that are phrased well and backed up and to support us in agreeing and disagreeing respectfully.
The ideas we gained from our silent debate will now help us to write our final speeches about who we feel has left the biggest legacy on the United Kingdom.
