More Able Students

"All of us do not have equal talents but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talent."

J.F.Kennedy

At our school we enjoy challenging all children to participate fully in a range of activities, to develop their interests and nurture their individual talents. We believe that by immersing them in an environment of exciting opportunities, good quality resources, and offering high expectations, children will rise to the challenges set and raise their own aspirations to achieve well.

We realise that children have different talents and through our daily curriculum and extended schools provision we help children to succeed to the highest levels where they are showing particular interests and abilities. A crucial part of our thinking in this area is offering opportunities to all children and so allowing everyone the chance to show what they are capable of.

Children who are identified as being more able in a variety of areas, or who have the potential to be, can participate in additional activities and workshops. These often take place within the school day, working alongside others from different classes and year groups to challenge each other and develop their own thinking and practice.

A range of activities have included

  • P.E and Sport

  • Maths

  • Literacy

  • Music and Performance

  • Drama

  • Art

Pupil voice is crucial in all activities for it is by listening to what the children have to say about their learning and their own experiences that we as teachers can make the learning even better and match it well to the children at our school.
