Ilfracombe Church of England (VC) Junior School

Year 6

Amy Le Bredonchel

My hopes and dreams are that every day, the children I work with, and myself, continue to learn to overcome boundaries, strive for new discoveries, become excited by new learning and be inspired by unique experiences. I feel honoured to be able to work with such wonderful children and caring professionals, who do everything to ensure every child's time at our school is memorable, happy and safe.

My favourite book has to be Tolkien's 'The Lord Of The Rings'. I love nothing more than a story that brings alive what a human's imagination can ultimately achieve...with a little help from hobbits?

When I think back over some of my successes, I am always proud of the variety of challenges I have set myself, be it: graduating from university, before qualifying as a teacher from Cambridge University; qualifying as a SCUBA diver instructor; surfing and travelling around the globe; and now even learning to play the ukulele!

Karina Cox

I love teaching maths, especially when I make tricky areas like algebra lots of fun to learn! However, my biggest passion is reading (during a two week holiday I normally devour at least six books!) so I look forward to sharing my love of all things book-related with your children in September!

I was born in Devon and raised just over the border in Somerset so I am very much looking forward to moving back to the South West with my partner during the summer holidays. In my free time, I love to spend time with my beautiful house rabbit, “Bramble,” and to go running. I am hoping that I will be able to spend lots of time on the beach and to take up surfing in the near future (wish me luck!).

Matthew Newall - Teacher

Ruth Knowles - Teacher

For the year ahead, I hope to inspire my Year 6 class with my own love of learning. I hope we will discover some amazing writers together, become brilliant problem solvers in maths and, best of all, become super scientists! My dream is for more children to love science.

My favourite children’s book is “Fantastic Mr Fox” by Roald Dahl, as it shows the triumph of animals over humans and how amazing they are at survival. I love spending time with my very own clever little fox-like dog called Téa - and Woody, a not-so clever dog, who we rescued from Battersea Dogs home!

I am most proud of my two daughters, who teach me new things every day and keep me smiling. I’m also very proud to be teaching in such a fantastic school: my old Junior school, which has given me so many wonderful memories.

Learning Support Assistants

Becky Beers - LSA - Team Leader

I wish for health and happiness to all my friends and family. I hope that I am lucky enough to carry on working within school, as it continues to challenge and fulfil me everyday. I also hope that this might be the summer I can finally learn to surf :D

I think that 'Where the Wild Things are' by Maurice Sendak is probably my very best book, I absolutely love it. I think I know all the words off by heart!

I am most proud of are my two children - Kya and Sonny. They are truly incredible.

Freya Ballantyne - LSA

My favourite children’s book has to be The Lion, The With and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. When reading this book you can really lose yourself in a magical adventure of wonder and excitement. I have really enjoyed reading it to my daughter too.

This year I hope to spend more time painting and being outdoors.

I am most proud of my daughter and watching her learning and growing.

Gabriela Alcock - LSA

I am enjoying my time working here at Ilfracombe Junior School and I hope that I can use my experiences to help and inspire all the children that I work with. My favourite children's books are anything by Roald Dahl, I love the little quotes that are hidden in there.

I am most proud of my nieces and nephews, who I spend a lot of time with outside of school, they always make me laugh and brighten up my day.

Sharon Westren - LSA

Kaycee Davidson - LSA

I am really excited to be back at Ilfracombe Junior School as a Learning Support Assistant. Having been away at University in Falmouth completing my BA and MA, I am happy to be home in Devon with my family and working in the school I attended between 1999-2003.

My favourite books are the Harry Potter series and The Twits by Roald Dahl as they were my favourite growing up.

In my spare time I love to read, watch Films and write screenplays and short stories.
